Problem with Video, USB and webcam

Postby Revolver » Tue Mar 19, 2013 21:36

Hi all!

i need assistance about a problem with my laptop an HP Pavilion g6-1352el :
my problem is that i have got 2 usb ports that doesn't work at all. I've tried to connect a mouse and some usb pen drive without success.
this is my lspci output

Code: Select all
revbook revolver # lsusb
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 093a:2510 Pixart Imaging, Inc. Optical Mouse

to make sabayon start i must set pci=acpi option in the boot.cfg. if i remove the option or if i set "nomodeset" option i've got a beautiful black screen.

I've tried to set the opengl to 1:

Code: Select all
revbook revolver # eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
  [1]   ati
  [2]   xorg-x11 *
  [3]   nvidia

to use the ati drivers without success. i've got 2 different video cards:
Code: Select all
revbook revolver # lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos [Radeon HD 6400M/7400M Series]

i suppose that is a acpi problem because with my old laptop (a dell inspiron) i never had any problem like this.

Can someone help me?

Maybe not related to your problem, but I'm using an old HP Pavillion computer with four USB-Ports on the backside.
I've tried to plugin a 5th USB pen drive, but found a message in my dmesg that my board isn't able to handle it.
So maybe you have the same problem?

i've not see dmesg log to check the errors.
But i rely it to a acpi problem. but i see the hub via lsusb.
I don't know why if i plug in a pen drive i the other usb ports does not work at all.

At the moment, i have only 1 usb port working.

There are "smart" manufactures, who put two usb ports on one plate, so both have to share the same electricity. Hence sometimes it's useful to change the port (not next to each other). But if you have just one port in usage, this is not your problem's source.
