strange AKAMAI connection to my SabayonOS [Solved]

Postby dan158 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 15:56

is there a reason that addresses like "67.131.44.83:http" are constantly connected to my Sabayon every time I log in? It was addresses in the 63.234.2.0/255 range but I used ufw to block all of them and now they're using the 67.131.44.* range.
[see 'whois' info below]

should I be worried that I have a key-logger/hacker/or similar? It started when I was on "wine 'world of warcraft'". I would open WoW and that connection would be made. So I blocked it because WoW doesn't use those addresses and after I used the rule "reject" in ufw one time they started connecting as soon as I turned on my Sabayon OS. (the 'reject' flag sends a message that the connection has been rejected).

Thanks Sabayonino. You helped me figure it out.
I dl'ed 'Guild Wars' trial and played it for a few days. They are based out of South Koria so that is probably where I picked it up. None of my World of warcraft instances on any other OS have connected me to that AKAMAI Tech, I swear that NCSOFT company, (handlers of GW & GW2) is wearing on my last nerve. (but thats a much longer story). now I just have to figure out how to get the AKAMAI site to leave me alone and stop touching my poor computer.
thanks again. :)
