Postby Thev00d00 » Thu Oct 29, 2009 16:36

All, Do you want more games on Sabayon? Just want to get a feel from the community. :)

Please also write a reply with comments such as:
  • Do you mind if the disk image grows?
  • Which Open Source games do you play?
  • Do you want Demos of Closed source games too?
  • Does anyone actually play Battle for Wesnoth?
  • Game Wishlist

I voted for the option to have a minimal iso.

I can use the packagemanager to install whatever I want.

Okay, i'm kind of confused: there seem to be people coming from Gentoo who literally live inside the console and then there are the (Linux) newbies who were attracted by the games and multimedia. i chose Sabayon, because it was a suite. And it had Nexuiz. :P

* i don't mind if the image grows as long as everything's in place and working.
* i play Nexuiz and random games from the Games meta package.
* i hate anything Closed source and wish it would all burn in a blazing fire. World of Goo is fun, though.
* i don't play Battle for Wesnoth.
* Game wishlist: Nexuiz. (and a Pong clone, maybe)

Thanks to Molecule 0.3.x new features, we'll have a Gaming Edition based on the upcoming Sabayon 5.1 x86 G.

Do you bother about the DE if it's just about a custom edition containing more games?

I wouldn't mind more games on an alternate .ISO but putting it on the main images requires those of us that don't want it to download it regardless (At least if/when I really bork my system and start from scratch from the latest DVD). Plus if you do an alternative .ISO then you can see exactly how many people are downloading it vs. the normal discs.

  • Do you mind if the disk image grows? If only a few hundred megabytes.. but if you add 1GB +
  • Which Open Source games do you play? Not really any. I play Quake III, Quake Live, COD series, Crysis
  • Do you want Demos of Closed source games too? Doesn't matter providing -> ^^ See first point ^^
  • Does anyone actually play Battle for Wesnoth? Nope
  • Game Wishlist: none

I haven't voted because nothing really fits what I want :)
There is a plus point to having more games if it will attract more users but, on the other hand, some people are put off by a large download. I only play the simplest of games but know I'm in a minority there.
I certainly think that putting "demos" on is inexcusable - it's like the bloat preloaded on most new PCs - and, although I miss the big Savayon DVDs of the past, I think the current isos are about right.

Looking forward to the release

I don't mind if the image grows, but prefer to use the package-manager to install whatever I need
I play Nexuiz and Sauerbraten the wife plays games from gnome & kde games meta package
Nothing worse than playing a demo and then getting told if you want to continue you have to pay
I started to play Battle for Wesnoth just didn't find time to continue
Game Wishlist = every free game that actually works
