you should have emerged the webcam firmware before recompiling kernel, hope you did that ;)

also, you could have just emerged them after grabbing the sources and then followed the rest of what lxnay said w/o having to have recompiled

I am confused. I followed the Gentoo guide on how to set up webcam support. I hope those steps did what you hope I did...? :?
