Accessing Windows Drives, USB Drives and Samba shares

Postby blackfam972 » Sat Sep 30, 2006 19:23

I think that windows drives should be accessable for read/write automatcly. Also Smaba should work aautomatically for normal users as well. Also memery sticks MP3 players and USB drives should be auto detected and work for normal users. Sabayon is a good distro but these are basic functions of any Linux distro ut do not work on sabayon. Sabayon is great but still needs lots of care in the details.

you just need to edit you fstab, i dont like to remember all the arguements for fstab so here is what i do:

i load a live cd like knoppix or whatever which i know allows me to access by partitions, i copy the fstab from that, open a root shell and overwrite it on the istalled linux partition. maybe edit it a little bit if i so need and then you have it.

yes it would be easier to just eidt the file manually but then you got to look up the arguements and have to make sure you dont mistype a word... anyway this way will work well especially if you are a beginner.
