Need help to get all partitions automounted at boot

Postby ed57 » Wed Sep 27, 2006 13:08

Hi team and members,

I'm very pleased to have installed Sabayon as my primary distro beside Ubuntu ! Everything looks like to work fine except the subject mentionned above.

The partitions are well showed in "media storage" (KDE), but I must manually mount them after each boot-up. I added entries in etc/fstab to get them automounted at boot without succeed. I also tried by right-cliking on the medias, under "properties" and select "automount" but does not seem to work after a reboot.

So any help or a how-to would be strongly appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the hard work. This distro is really welcome for the noobs (maybe pure gentoo users too !)

P.S : could this be fixed with the next release ?

Hi Wolfden, sorry, can't post my fstab, I'm at work currenty.

I looked at your link : /dev/hda1 /media/Windows ntfs-fuse auto,user_xattr,umask=000 1 1

That's for ntfs. My partition is on fat32, shall I only replace "ntfs-fuse" by "vfat" and leave the rest as it is ?

Yup that should work, here is a snip of my fstab for an example

Code: Select all
/dev/sdb5      /mnt/movies   vfat      defaults       0 0

I just make the directory movies in the /mnt of course and it auto mounts it every time
