Gentoo 2006.1 release

Postby M8tRiX » Thu Aug 31, 2006 8:56

Quick question :

Will the Sabayon 3.0 Final be based on Gentoo 2006.1 ?

I only ask because an article has just surfaced about gentoo 2006.1

maybe... even if there aren't differences between our 2006.0 profile and gentoo 2006.1 since we already use GCC 4.1.1

Just been reading the ariticale, not very impressed the Gentoo installer they have done. Much prefer the Sabayon installer.

In fact, unmasking gcc 4.1.1 is the same to have 2006.1 on gentoo unstable. So...

They updated the toolchain kit too I thought? rather than just recompile with 4.1.1 and gli installer

Really? So yo guys always have been using GCC4? I am going to re-install my system (2006.0) because I am getting a new faster hard drive; then I saw 2006.1 then this site...

So if I install 3.0 RC2 now would it be easy to upgrade to stable release when it come out?

Do you guys like have your own Portage tree or???
