SN9C1XX webcam?

Postby Woodgypsy » Mon Aug 13, 2007 14:52

I am trying to use webcam "0c45:608f Microdia" with Sabayon3.4a. However, so far I am unable to make it work. The default driver in kernel seem to load, according to dmesg, and I indeed see light turn on on the webcam. However, no application can actually use it. Here is part as it shows on dmesg.

[ 62.135636] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[ 62.139327] sn9c102: V4L2 driver for SN9C1xx PC Camera Controllers v1:1.48

So, I took a look at Gentoo wiki. http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_a_webcam
According to this, there's more up-to-date driver at Sunrise overlay, so I emerged it from there. However, it also state "Note: Do NOT forget to disable the driver in your kernel! They have the same name.", which I have no idea how I can do that.. Can someone please show me how to disable the driver in the kernel? Or am I missing something else and there's other way to enable this webcam? Thank you.
