Help with display settings

I'm a noob and am completelt lost. I have my computer hooked to a samsung hdtv and am having trouble withg the video settings. The nvdia drivers are installed and I'm using the proper resolution (1280x720) but the desktop stretches past my screen by about an inch on each side. When using VNC to connect remotely everything looks fine. I can't find anywhere in the kde settings or the nvidia setting to shrink the desktop to fit the screen. my specs are as follows. Please help.

CPU: AMD64 3700
Card: nvidia 7300
Monitor: samsung 46" widescreen hdtv (720p)

Is it connected by VGA Sub15, Digital or .etc?

Try your Video Cards other (upscale) Resolutions
for possible better fit and even the Refresh Rate
can be a factor. If that does not work, then there
are other possibilities that may help as Sabayon
looks magnificent on a Large Display!

Still no luck. I'm connected from dvi to hdmi. any third party software that might help?

i have a similar problem on my notebook - the desktop extends on the right maybe 20 pixels that i don't have access to. nobody has found a solution for this yet... maybe this is related.

been using a plasma as my monitor with a laptop for almost four years. Both of them had a max default resolution of 1024x768. The laptop default widescreen max is 1280 x something??. Anyway, every distribuion I have had issues with the plasma that were remedied by setting both the laptop ati 9600 mobility w64mb and the plasma to 1024x768 @60 hz(the default max for the plasmas)
I have had a few pixels overextension in some distros after that which I corrected with the plasma settings under the menu, shrinking and moving the 'screen' to the proper position/dimensions.
Have been able to use clone or extend desktop in all distros. Next plasma I get, I want to be certain that it has split-screen capabilities(tv and puter @ same time) and a higher resolution capability for gaming purposes. BUT I have been well pleased with them overall, nothing like 'puterin and gaming with 42 inch plasmas for monitors. My laptop may be old(4years) but it works fine.
