Dell XPS M170 resolution

Postby gerrit_hoekstra » Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:12

This machine has a lovely NVidia card with 1920x1200 resolution. However, the SL installation (up to 3.4 Loop3) does not recognize the talent of this machine and sets the max. resolution to a paltry 1024x768. To get the full working performance, make the following change to /etc/X11/xorg.conf (they are for a CRT but work well on a laptop display):
Code: Select all
Section "Monitor"
    Identifier  "Generic Monitor"
    #Option "DPMS"
    HorizSync   31.5-110
    VertRefresh 28-90
    Modeline "1920x1200" 162 1920 1984 2176 2480 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync
EndSection
and add the "1920x1200" in each display section:
Code: Select all
SubSection "Display"
        Depth           24
        ViewPort        0 0
        Modes          "1920x1200" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubsection
