Intel Microcodeupdate in Sabayon? [solved]

Postby Ron.W » Tue Jun 26, 2007 20:09

Hello,

can anybody please give me a hint how to update this Microcode for Intel-Processors in sabayon? There are some RPM's and Debian-Packages around in the internet, but I didn't get an idea how to do this in Gentoo based Sabayon.

This is where I found the recent Intel Microcode for Linux: http://www.urbanmyth.org/microcode/

If the IA32 microcode driver, which is mentioned on this site as a prerequisite for the update, is not in Sabayon until now, I'd suggest to implement this in one of the next releases...

Any help appreciated.

greetings
Ron.

P.S.: Would this one be the right tool for the task? http://gentoo-portage.com/sys-apps/microcode-ctl

yes ron.w,
the Intel IA32 microcode update utility in gentoo's portage is the same as in the one you found in http://www.urbanmyth.org/microcode/
and it should be in portage, just :
emerge microcode-ctl
should install it, and you'd be good to go.
