Postby keteflips » Fri Jun 15, 2007 2:28

Hi.

I prove to update my nvidia drivers.

#merge nvidia-drivers
#modprobe nvidia
#update-modules
#reboot

But when restart and startx, I get a message that kernel nvidia module and nvidia drivers its not the same version.

I'm newbie, can anybody help me?¿

You need to update your kernel module as well. Do a search on updating a kernel, you will find the solution there.

make sure you are installing it to the right kernel

eselect kernel list

make sure the * is next to the kernel you are actually using, do a:

uname -r

if that is different do

# eselect kernel set 1 <-- change the number 1 to whatever kernel u are using.

eselect kernel list <-- verify you made the changes correctly

# emerge nvidia-drivers
# eselect opengl set nvidia
shouldn't have to modprobe - reboot

note the # means you have to be root to run the command
