print drivers

Postby ka-ja » Mon Jun 11, 2007 20:09

Hi,
the old question of print drivers rears its ugly head again,if not for this and certain other driver issues linux in general and sabayon in particular could give mr. ms a run for his money. I have two drivers for my epson 4850 on my desktop, turboprint-1.95-2.tgz and epson31411ev.zip.
Why is it such a pain for a linux learner to do anything with them? lost before I start.

as much as I hate printers but why don't u just go to http://localhost:631/ click on add printer and see if it be there already???

Fill the first step in with info than on the next step, use the drop down box and see if your printer is already there.

Hi,
No joy on that link, there is no mention of any usb printers at all, I have tried several sites including foomatic, also the sabayon inbuilt add printer section, this shows a printer I could use, but when I install it comes up with either I am not authorised to install or there is no suitable driver.
