I need some help i cant get sound to work on my dell 4550> Do you guys have anything to slove this.

Hi

I can't answer you question straight off but I'll give you a few hints on how to get more responses on this forum. This is meant as constructive criticism and everyone gets it wrong when they first start posting, including myself

You need to give more specific information on your problem. There are so many posts to answer that just saying you can't get sound to work on Dell 4550 means that whoever answers has to search on the Dell website to see what hardware is in the Dell 4550 or whether it is a laptop or desktop computer. This may put many off in answering.

So the best way to ask the question would be to give as much info as possible.
For example,
1) My sound card is a ??????? integrated into the motherboard.
2) I'm using SabayonLinux version ????
3) I'm using the kernel version ????
4) This is the output of lspci or lsusb
5) It did/didn't work on the liveDVD or when I installed it to the harddrive.

You can find out what kernel you are using by opening up a command konsole and typing in uname -r.
Similarly in a command konsole (type su and then enter root password), the output of lspci and lsusb list the hardware in your computer. For any hardware related questions the output of the lspci command (or lsusb if it's a usb device) should be the minimum information you post.

-SANTA CRUZ, Multi-Media, Audio CRD,MM,AUD,SANTA CRUZ
