Keyboard entry slow

this is the first time i am facing such a problem. when i want to type a sequence like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa etc (repeated keys by holding down a key), the entry is too slow.

it becomes really painful when i have to backspace a sequence etc.

I am using a compaq V3000 series laptop and sabayon 3.3b
