Graphics card (Optimus) problems on 11 (XFCE)

Postby fluff » Wed Feb 20, 2013 8:55

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire V3 - 771G. It is an NVIDIA Optimus system with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 card. When I boot it without changed settings, the screen turns and remains black. I can work around this either by disabling KMS, which prevents X.org from coming up (driver issues) or disable ACPI, which strangely makes it get stuck when looking for ZFS tools, which strangely works perfectly, when KMS is disabled. I don't really understand how this is related, but I am hoping for suggestions.

Oh and I am using an USB stick to boot. It correctly uses GRUB in UEFI mode.

I also tried Ubuntu. It works with ACPI disabled.
