Intel Centrino 2030 Range better in Windows

Amazingly, the range on my Intel centrino 2030 has gone straight to hell under on Sabayon (and a few other linices I have tried), not that it was that great under windows (Read: If you can pay the extra $20 to have the centrino wireless, do not!) . Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has come up with a remedy for this? I kind of doubt it, but I thought a post was worth a try.
