Re: failed to display logon screen

Seems to me that your 3D acceleration failed,
try to fully update:

Code: Select all
equo update
equo upgrade
reboot

reboot in the last kernel. If the problem continue, log as root ands instead or "startx", use:

Code: Select all
CTRL+ALT+F1, then
/etc/init.d/xdm restart

if not load X, try to re-install the kernel and the video drivers (ATI)?

Code: Select all
equo install linux-sabayon ati-drivers
eselect opengl set ati
reboot

Thanks for reply. I tried above commands. After typing the command "/etc/init.d/xdm restart", the following message appeared.

syslog-ng: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libsyslog-ng-3.3.5.so: undefined symbol: g_malloc_n
*Configuration error. Please fix your configfile (/etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf)
*ERROR: syslog-ng failed to start

The solution found! This error is because of glibc, glibc conflicting. I have installed both system glibc (using sudo equo) and user installed glibc (sudo make install). So, I removed user installed glibc and reboot. Then, It was good. Thanks for help.

If a package exists in the package manager's repository you should use the package manager to install it. If you install packages manually outside the package manager you're asking for trouble.

Also, please mark your threads as solved according to the procedure specified in the sticky thread: Why, and how to add "[Solved]" to your post. Please read. I'll do it for you this time.
