Problem with intel drivers

Postby dblanche54 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 15:57

Hey,
So I did some updates after a fresh install of sabayon and xserver wouldn't load, after some troubleshooting in xorg.conf I changed the driver from "intel" to "vesa" and this allowed xserver to load.
I tried un-installing and re installing x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.18.0 but that didn't help it still wouldn't load. Naturally vesa isn't so great with my netbook, but at-least it is use-able. Any help anyone could give me on fixing this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Danny

edit: I also tried to recompile them from source, but I lack 'pkg-configure' whatever that does. I tried to equo install it but that didn't help.

I would say try reversing the sna flag. I actually experienced the opposite problem with the driver. I was experiencing video problems and enabling the flag solved it. All you have to loose is some compile time.

with pkg-configure, you probably mean:
"dev-util/pkgconfig-0.26"
can you show here the LOG about what packages exactly got updated?

> /var/log/rc.log

> /var/log/Xorg.0.log
you can paste them here by using the Code tab. at replying, or use the PasteBin and paste here the links to your logs. (you can use the same loginname/passwd you use for this forum.)
