Postby Mohammed » Sun Feb 26, 2012 19:53

Hello Sabayon team
well first of all ,I am newbie in linux
and I have an old toshiba PC wich I tried to install on it many differnt OS but it didn't work like I wanted it
untill I tried the last gentoo DVD ,and it worked just fine ,but I had a touchpad problem
and that was the time that I knew sabayon ,I've download it and install it and it works great

I have Amd64 CPU ,so I've installed the amd sabayon version ,but I was hearing that the cpu is very noisy
so I tried sabayon X86 ,and I installed it ,and the cpu worked just fine ,and my pc was quite
but when I work a while the cpu start to be noisy again ,its like Iam working with amd64 bit version and it stay like that
unless I reboot my system

the second thing is when I use entropy ,my pc crashes if the entropy is installing some programs and I am doing
something else
like trying to open a program

I wish you help me ;your OS opend my eye for a different world
so I am waiting for your responses

regards
Mohammed

It seems like your PC (a laptop, I guess  ) is suffering overheating.

If you use entropy (equo, sulfur) to install/update things, it is normal that the process eats up a lot of CPU power. If your CPU fan isn't clean then u will have overheating problems and your PC will automatically shutdown/reboot when it reaches a critical temperature.

That's why the CPU fan is noisy with high CPU usage 8)

I recommend a cleanup for your CPU fan. U will need to dismember your PC by parts, so be careful... or bring it to a tech service for a full cleanup.

Finally, if your CPU is a 64bit one, use a 64bit version of sabayon. (i recommend, is not mandatory  )

I hope it helps
