Pulseaudio /w USB Speakers: only left Channel [Solved]

Hi,

i have a strange problem with pulseaudio and my new USB-speakers.
I have absolutely no sound on my right channel. Using alsa-only it works great (in XP also) - so the speakers are ok.
Pulseaudio works great with my Headphones.

In Pulseaudio Volume Meter i have have signals on both channels.

How do i get both channels on?

i had to put

pcm.pulse { type pulse }
ctl.pulse { type pulse }

in ~/.asoundrc
one of those settings brought me 2-channels

ok, it worked for some days, no its there again.
i only have the left channel.
whats wrong with pulseaudio?

Do you see both USB speaker channels in ALSA Mixer, or only a composite channel? If only a composite, install ALSA Mixer GUI (the package media-sound/alsamixergui), as that shows both stereo channels, and perhaps you can adjust the right channel. If your USB sound device is e.g. Card 1 then you would launch ALSA Mixer GUI from the command line as follows:

i tried alsamixer, gnome alsa mixer, which shows both channels and the Pulseaudio mixer where i also see both active(!) signals and controls for left/right channels.

with alsamixergui i saw that the right channel was muted.
but ... why? i didn't change anything and the error was gone with .asoundrc

No idea, I'm afraid. Bug in ALSA? Bug in PulseAudio? Who knows?! Glad ALSA Mixer GUI was of help. I have an icon for it on my Panel and it is very handy: no need to fire up Konsole and run ALSA Mixer in it any more. Just one click and I have an ALSA Mixer in the GUI.
