pc restarts on shutdown...

i run sabayon x64...

my config is intel dg33fb motherboard + quad core 6600 cpu... a, having a weird problem... whenevr i do a shutdown, the pc restarts automatically...

been having this since i installed sabayon 5 months ago, but it doesnt bug me much as i rarely switch off my pc...

but it would be nice to solve this problem... what additional info should i provide??

Sounds to me like you may have Wake-on-LAN configured in the BIOS. I suggest you check your BIOS configuration and switch off Wake-on-LAN if it is enabled.

nope i checked now.. the bios power menu options are somewhat like this....

wake on lan from s5 - off
wake up after power failure - off
acpi suspend state - s3
eist - on

I'd try removing the Ethernet cable just before you shut down (and disabling WiFi using the RF Kill Switch, if you have one), just to be sure it's not being triggered by that, despite what the BIOS page says.

Another thing to try would be to change 'acpi suspend state' to G3 (Mechanical Off = switched off) or Disabled, or whatever the closest is you have. S3 = Suspend to RAM, so that might be causing it.

Also, have a look in /var/log/messages to see if there are any messages at the time the PC spontaneously restarts.

If you need to shutdown your pc for some reason you could also try this open your terminal su - password then enter shutdown now see if that works

In my case the issue was related to ConsoleKit: Shutdown ends up in a Reboot.
I suggest you file a bug.
