Cant get sound to work [Solved]

Hi iam very new to linux and sabayon I had no trouble loading sabayon everything works including 3d desk top but I cant get no sound, volume levels show 84% i know the sound card works because iam runing xp pro as well iv also tried ubuntu and the sound works but doesnt give me 3d desktop I have sound blaster card in iv tried playing music cds the the graphic s show the music is playing the level is showing high yet no sound at all no beep no sound off any kind I can play the games still no sound checked every sound level Icould find nothing on mute
Please can anyone shed lite on my problem many thanks
