creative xfi card

ok I am trying to set up a media center and I have a creative xfi card. I downloaded and set up the 86_64 version of sabayon. But when I download the creative driver from their website, but when I run the installer in the terminal I get an error message saying it is for a 64bit operating system only. I thought the 86_64 was a 64bit OS, is it not? Or am I doing something else wrong. This is my very first time to use linux so sorry if this is a stupid question
