Creative X-fi 64bit beta drivers on the way

Unfortunately there just a little but to late (when i say little i mean over a year late), just about everyone i know who got or was thinking of getting an XFI sold theres and bought another card. I still have my xfi, i haven't sold it yet, but my Juli@ is better imo.

Yes I understand. It was almost the same thing with my ATI cards. I sold all mine and bought nVidia because ATI's drivers were extremely bad. But at least this is something. Audigy cards will probably soon be removed from the stores.

At the time of writing Audigy 4 cards have been removed from my favourite store. Only Audigy card left is the first edition (Audigy1). If I were to switch my card to another one it would probably be an X-FI. Perhaps there is a better choice? I need a 7.1 card because I have a 7.1 speaker set.

Hi Razor1394. Let us know if you try those X-FI Drivers, and by the way, I have
a Powered 7.1 Speaker Set connected out from 3 year old Supported Intel MB's
Onboard HD 7.1 that "Kmix" is set at 8 Channels....... Sounds Great!

My high dollar, high powered, money suckin' personal entertainment audio powerhouse computer has an X-Fi card in it and I love it. It's, also, a windows only machine. Oh well, everything has a downside:)
Anything I build that has linux in it gets a Diamond Technologies 5.1 or 7.1 sound card. They are cheap at, about, $20.00 for a 5.1 and $30.00 for a 7.1 on http://www.newegg.com. The sound is comparable to the X-Fi cards except on top end. They lose a little to the X-Fi cards. Linux compatible? They ship with Audacity. I believe Maximum PC did a comparison that backs up what I've said about these cards except they never compared tthem on a linux box.
I have three in different machines and (for the money) they are great. Never a problem with sound on any distro I've tried so far that was the cards fault.
I hope this helps anyone hurting for a sound card.
