Hi there and welcome here.

If possible can you post the " lspci " output as well using the " code " button above and then paste this in between the brackets example
Code: Select all
 message here
part of it.
This will list the hardware parts in the laptop as likely it needs a moded driver or some cheat to get it to work.

Will see what I could find and post to get this fixed.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clie ... er&spell=1

This is some sound blaster links.

Did you try in terminal as root the "alsaconfig" or " alsaconf" one of them should work and if it is the generic 3d sounblaster / creative type card in yours this should see it and configure it. Once finished just restart and it should work.

The kde pc speaker part / kmix might need to be updated or reinstalled if alsa did not fix it or even one of the settings needs to be changed and played with. Think the LFE if it shows this should be active for yours , have to be off for my dell laptop.

If you did not already update the portage tree:
# emerge --sync ; emerge portage ; layman -S
once finished it should have the updated installable program list then try the kmix update below.

update kmix:
# emerge -s kmix
now it gives you the correct name and then
Example:
# emerge "correct name here"
# emerge kmix

Not sure why the nvidia 100.?? linux driver does not yet see your mobile nvidia 8400gs " 0427 "
