I don't know why.
Pretty much, I plug in the ipod (30gig video) and want to use it as a external hard drive. KDE media manager pops up asking what I want to do. I tell it to mount it. Long (possibly repeated) story short, transfer speeds are pretty bad, and it somehow freezes the KDE kicker temporarily every now and then.
Ideas?
System specs BTW:
amd64 3K+ Socket 754
asus k8v with k8t800 chipset
via vt82?? usb
worked fine when I had gentoo, although I wasn't running hal to the extent that sabayon uses it.
also:
-sync is not on
-weird message in dmesg popping up constantly about "Device driver usbdev1.12_ep82 lacks bus and class support for being resumed." Something tells me that's part of my problem, but searches have not turned up much other than to reinstall hal, and considering how much sabayon relies on hal, I'm a bit hesitant.
