After installing amdcccle & using eselect to set ati as default (opengl), I'm in the fallback mode and when I start amdcccle control center it says initialisation error..with a message:
There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following.
No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly.
Please install the AMD driver appropriate for you AMD hardware, or configure using aticonfig.
It's a radeon HD 8750 card and here's the output of lspci:

As you can clearly see the radeon card is there, but I'm not sure what to do at this point cos it's been a while since I've used a radeon card and the last card had no issues at all.
