module-rebuild referencing wrong kernel source

I'm trying to run module-rebuild after tweaking my kernel .config, but it seems to be referencing the wrong kernel sources. It's telling me it's found source for 2.6.22-sabayon, but it should use the source from 2.6.22-2007-07-31b. My /usr/src/linux symlink is set correctly. What could be the problem?

eselect kernel list <--shows kernels
than use

eselect kernel set 2 <--change the 2 to what ever number u want to match the kernel u want

[spiffytech]

"eselect kernel list" already shows the asterisk next to the correct kernel.
