64 bit compiling question

OK, if I compilied an app (lets say zdoom) under a 64 bit os, would it be a 64 bit app? (assuming it works, obviously) If so, does this apply to portage, since it compiles everything before install? How would a 32-bit app function in sabayon?

32bit apps are 32bit and 64bit apps are 64 apps - compiling doesn't make em change

32 bit apps will work on 64
