Can't compile dvdstyler

Postby sez » Tue Mar 06, 2012 17:09

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Sabayon (coming from Kubuntu), and wanted to use DVDStyler to create a DVD. It wasn't in Sabayon's repositories, so I attempted to emerge it and got a compile error. The error message says in order to get help, "post" the output of several files, but I have no idea where to post it:

* ERROR: media-video/dvdstyler-2.1 failed (compile phase):
* emake failed
*
* If you need support, post the output of 'emerge --info =media-video/dvdstyler-2.1',
* the complete build log and the output of 'emerge -pqv =media-video/dvdstyler-2.1'.
* The complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/media-video/dvdstyler-2.1/temp/build.log'.
* The ebuild environment file is located at '/var/tmp/portage/media-video/dvdstyler-2.1/temp/environment'.
* S: '/var/tmp/portage/media-video/dvdstyler-2.1/work/DVDStyler-2.1'

I'm sure there's some procedure I'm unaware of for this; can someone help me out?

Thanks!

This file tells you what was going on.

But I just tried to compile dvdstyler myself and it failed:
Code: Select all
mediatrc_ffmpeg.cpp:26:33: fatal error: libavfilter/avcodec.h: No such file or directory

Maybe it has something to do with sabayon using libav instead of ffmpeg. But to try this out I guess I would have to use vlc, mplayer and & Co too from portage. Maybe I try ...

Oh, oh,
I dit it.

Code: Select all
emerge --unmerge libav
emerge ffmpeg
emerge dvdstyler

and there is dvdstyler on sabyon.

Since all ffmpeg things should depend on virtual/ffmpeg and not on ffmpeg or libav itself, you should be free to choose. Since sabayon chose libav,
Code: Select all
equo remove libav

suggests to remove half of my system (well I guess this is the reason ...)

Now a
Code: Select all
equo deptest --pretend
>>  @@ Running dependency test ...
>>  @@  (1001/1001) Checking media-gfx/graphite2-1.0.3-r1

seems to show that everything is fine again even from the point of view of entropy.

These were my first two days with sabayon and this is my second package coming from portage. I hope I will survive the next updates :shock: :oops: :shock:
