Source packages ?

Ok, this may be a really stupit question, but anyway ...

I found out about Sabayon Linux yesterday and today I installed it on my workstation.
The installation went really smooth and I'm really impressed by that all my hardware were found
right away ... Sound, Nvidia 8800GT, net etc .. openGL and all.

But the question really .. packages that are installed, are they precompiled or is it source ?
After the installation I ended up with having about 120 updates in all and the process of
updating everything took about 30-40 minutes .. (I think)

A bit to long for being binaries and maybe a bit to fast for being source .. ?

My guess is that you used equo/Spritz to do your updates, which means they were binary. Entropy (the name for the equo system) does take a bit longer than other binary package managers, but it is also portage compatible, which means you could install from source via portage if you so choose to.

OK .. I understand
I suppose that I can do the way I'm used to, the Gentoo way if I want source ..
Btw .. is there any graphical packagemanager that support source packages or
can you set that up in Entropy ?

Graphical frontends for portage and emerge are portato, kuroo, porthole,...
All those available on gentoo are also available on sabayon
