beryl not starting when GUI starts

Postby lleb » Tue Aug 14, 2007 1:53

running 3.3 on the following hardware:

AMD 939chip X2 3800+
2G PC3200 ram
2x Nvidia 7600GS 256M PCI-e SLI configured
sATA drives

beryl works great (90% of the time) but ONLY if i start it manually via CLI (konsole) after the GUI is up and running. when i try to set the acceleration manager to run AIGLX (i think that is the proper name for it, the 2nd setting not the bottom one as i run some openGL games) it always prompts for root password, thus defeating the security of a USER as it will log me in as root and not as user.

so what conf do i need to adjust and with what setting to make beryl start on its own with just user log in under KDE?

no you don't have to log out, just run it as root and than try restarting to see if it works

ray@sabAMD64 ~ $ ln -s /usr/bin/beryl-manager ~/.kde/Autostart
ln: creating symbolic link `/home/ray/.kde/Autostart/beryl-manager': File exists
ray@sabAMD64 ~ $ su -
Password:
sabAMD64 ~ # ln -s /usr/bin/beryl-manager ~/.kde/Autostart
ln: creating symbolic link `/root/.kde/Autostart': File exists

so it appears i have already done that at some point.
