Hi!
I've installed 3.4 and I had troubles with compiz-fusion. It works and all, but it's slow compared to the old beryl.
Also, after a while X takes all the resources available and the computer slows down until it hangs.

I emerged beryl and launched beryl-manager. Everything works smoothly with beryl! :D

However, compiz is still the wm at startup.

So, I would like to replace the compiz manager (the tiny little icon with the arrow in the tray) with beryl-manager (the ruby icon). I saw many threads that explain how to launch it with kde, but this looks dirty. :)

I want to replace the compiz manager with the beryl manager not adding the beryl manager over.

Unluckily, I don't know how the compiz manager is launched at startup. So this is my question: where is the script that launches it? :oops:

Thank you!

I found it.
In /usr/share/autostart/

I substituted compiz-manager.desktop with a similar object that launches beryl-manager instead of fusion-icon. :)

Just make a backup copy of compiz-manager.desktop in another directory then edit the original one with a text editor (I'm not sure if it is possible to edit a .desktop object through its properties menu).

Find the line like this one:
Code: Select all
Exec=fusion-icon

and replace it with:
Code: Select all
Exec=beryl-manager

Voila! :)
