Is there some instructions for Compiz Fusion

Postby Sicundercover » Thu Jul 26, 2007 15:03

I cant figure out this thing completely. I got it to run and I can do the water thing and turn the cube but thats it.

I did the fire thing too but then I couldnt get it off the screen.

Also, I can only get the cube to flip left and right. In the videos ive seen you step back from the cube and flip it.

Ive been to the Beryl home site and there was some stuff there but some of the keys dont work any more because of the merger.

So is there any info out there on how to do what in compiz fusion?

The best way to figure out what key combos to use is go to into system/preferences/compizconfig settings manager. For this example ill use the Draw fire on the screen plugin, click it in the settings (not the checkbox but the actually text) click the actions tab then click the arrow next to General. this will dropdown your options. Now it tells you the key combos for its features. to remove fire from the screen use Shift+Super+C all of the plugins have an actions tab and tells you the key combos and you can change them there also. Hope this helps.

Shift+F9 will turn the water ripples on and off.
Shift+Cntrl+Superkey and moving your mouse will look like the cursor is dragging across the water.

FYI: Superkey is just the Windows Key

well water was just ctrl + super (windows key). And Ive been to the settings manager and Ive got some things working. But I cant get the windows to puff into smoke or fire when you close them and I cant get the cube to do anything other then flatten out and turn left and right.

I cannot get the cube to pan out so that I can see it as a cube and I read in settings that it does that if you hit space bar and mousewheel. However when I do that it turns halfway and freezes.

Your right here! Cntrl+Super works.

But I cant get the windows to puff into smoke or fire when you close them

To do this you have to go into the settings manager, Animations. then where it says "Minimize Effect" chose Burn. The other tabs have other settings, play with them.

I cant get the cube to do anything other then flatten out and turn left and right.

To spin the cube around hold Cntrl+Alt Left click and drag. this will allow you to spin it around. Also holding Cntrl+Alt while hitting the down arrow will give you the 4 sides perspective.

Give those a try and look around in the settings on those tabs. If you don't have it enabled yet, enable Cube Reflections under Effects. This will give it a reflection when you spin the cube. looks much nicer!

Thats strange. Do you have it enabled in the settings? In my settings it says Super....but i am on Ubuntu Ultimate...haven't had a chance to install Sabayon yet. I will be setting it up on my home computer after work though.
