all i changed in the Nvidia X Server Settings was the display setting for dualview mode

i typed Beryl in the Konsole and i get

Hi

This is what happens when you use nvidia-settings. It removes all of the stuff vital to beryl from the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file
When nvidia-settings overwrote the xorg.conf file it might of produced a file called xorg.conf.backup . This file should have your old xorg settings. Check the date/time on the file.

If you want beryl and dual monitors working at the same time then you will have to compare both /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup file and see what the nvidia-settings program removed.
A few things to check for in the xorg.conf file that nvidia-settings might have removed are things like:

Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps"

Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true"

Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

You will have to compare both old and new xorg.conf file to see where they should go.

It's not a simple task I'm afraid.

All the best

Dave

p.s. There are quite a few threads already on this subject (especially in the 64-bit forum). You might want to check these out.

If all else fails, fire up the livecd/dvd and get everything working and than steal that xorg.conf and replace it with the one on your hard drive
