Sound and beryl issues

Postby Phenom00v » Fri Jun 22, 2007 15:59

Well, after installing Sabayon, I discovered my sound no longer works. Any suggestions? What do you need to know about my computer to have an idea?

lenovo 3000 n100 if that helps anyone :?

also, beryl just suddenly stopped working. it was fine for the last week, but this morning, no matter how many times I've rebooted, none of the effects work anymore. No 3-d cube, no wobbly windows...
although this isn't a need, its a want- i'd like to have my eye-candy back

let me know of any suggestions or advice!

thanks,
phenom00v

Please post the output of "lspci". That's a start.

I'd right click on the beryl manager icon and make sure that beryl is selected as the display manager. If it is, try compiz.

For some reason I have to start beryl manually on my system because I have the Radeon X9150Pro and it gives me a warning that compiz doesn't support it. But running:

xgl-setup enable
beryl-manager &

...fixes it right up.

I happen to have the exact same audio controller in my system and it works fine in Sabayon. My MoBo is an Intel D975XBX2KR. I recall installing all the latest updates for it from the Intel site when I first built the system.

What does your "lsmod" say?
I have the following modules loaded:

snd_seq_dummy
snd_seq_oss
snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq
snd_seq_device
snd_hda_intel
snd_hda_codec

My lspci actually says:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

I wonder if the revision # makes the difference.
