I had the exact same problem with no window borders, and yet my cube worked. This page solved my problem, especially the part with the beryl settings commands. Hope others are able to get their borders back too! My husband was having black windows (he DID have window borders) and this page also solved his problems. BTW he has the exact same laptop I do: dv9000 HP Pavilion.

Thanks for that link, I will try it tonight. However, 3.3 seems to have a lot of issues with the desktop, not just Beryl, and the problem seems to be they are inconsistant. The general symptiom for me seems to be that if you log into a desktop it works but the next time it doesn't. I had KDE Metisse working but now it isn't. Then Beryl wasn't working but now it is.

I don't have nvidia-xconf...
And i don't know how to stop X for using the nvidia-installer...
By the way should i use the installer when nvidia-drivers are already emerged?

I fixed the Window problem with the troubleshooting, no need for xconfig ;)

Roox79 - sounds like you got it fixed. BTW we are aiglx too, and the info in the link worked for us. In fact, we never even had to emerge the latest nvidia drivers.

Problem came back.. quite weird because i haven't updated a thing or changed settings.. beryl decorator just wont start with kde.. Using acceleration manager fixed the problem but still it's weird that I have to do that all the time..

Beryl AIGLX nvidia fixed or not?

Postby smudge » Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:40

Has this issue been fixed? I have all the same problems and the quick fix doesn't mean it'll work next time I boot. Is there a config issue I can change or is everyone running the acceleration manager and ctrl+alt and back-spacing?

i'm hoping it does get sorted in the coming point release, as an owner of a 7900GT.

I've had problems with Beryl too. Enable aiglx. Set beryl as window manager. Log out or restart... fallback is the window manager. I think there's a problem when acceleration is enabled when running the kde environment. Try logging out, then select Acceleration Manager from the list of Session options. Then log in as the standard user. You will be prompted for the root password. Select desired acceleration and apply the settings. You'll see a message telling you to alt+ctrl+backspace to kill and restart xorg. Do that. Then select your normal session type from the session options and log in as you normally would.
