Large Login KDM Stall & Mouse Freeze [Solved]

Postby Butch Cassidy » Mon Dec 17, 2012 22:43

I have had this problem on and off for numerous KDE releases and numerous KDE distros. Most of the time it gets rectified but usually after large changes within a distro (like moving to systemd). The problem is a 30 second mouse freeze at login time before you are able to proceed and login normally.

For anybody who has this here's what has just worked for me. Based off this blog post and this old arch linux bug the suggested fix is to run;

Code: Select all
 fc-cache -fv

...to update font cache. Well tickle me sideways, it worked! Hope this helps someone out as much as it's just done for me.

Next question is; is this a distro issue or a KDE issue, or both, and where to (re)file a bug report?

You could always try submitting it to the KDE Bug Tracker System at https://bugs.kde.org/
That would be a good start and they should be able to tell you if it's a KDE problem.

I have in mind that may be another problem.
try to re-install udev, xf86-input-evdev and dbus.
