White text on white/black background, GTK2 [Solved]

Postby catinthebox » Sat Nov 10, 2012 10:25

I thought i would post this because i spent a few days figuring it out and scouring the interent for bad solutions.

I am using Equinox Evolution Midnight on Sabayon linux with openbox. lxappearance does not change the colour of the white text on black text boxes background (libre office) or white text on white background in firefox
I hope someone spends less time figuring this out because of this post

/usr/share/{theme}/gtk-2.0/gtkrc AND/OR ~/.themes/{theme}/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

are the file(s) that need to be edited I know firefox is a gtk3 app (says the internet.. doesnt even matter...), go to the end of the file and itll have a string of bullshit and youll find these elements and need to change them.

text_color:#000000/nbg_color:#ffffff

is the code for black text and white boxes, i am unsure of what other elements do
I wasted a lot of time with /gtk-3.0/settings.ini and copying files to random places to fix things and bullshit custom firefox stylesheets. This is what I did and it fixed it. Maybe post this in the wiki if you read it and decide its better used there.
