Help with notification

Postby chasha420 » Sat Oct 27, 2012 14:54

Hi guys...I've been using openbox and the default notification stuff that came along with it as Gnome was the default environment previously.

One thing that I wanted to know from you guys is which notification daemon do you people prefer / is more fancy looking / popular.

I can see that there's quite a lot including notify-osd from Ubuntu, etc.

Sometimes when I get notified about mail or something similar part of the message seems to be left out on the right edge of the screen and perhaps it's a bug...how do I fix that?

I have nothing else installed other than gnome-notification-daemon and libnotify.

Also I was looking at this site: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1411620 & I think it is possible to customise notify-send but it doesn't work for me...I'm referring to the html samples at the end. Do I need to use ubuntu's notify-osd?

Thanks guys for helping this n00bie hen!

In Sabayon, the notification package is installed and running by default, with the corresponding graphical env., KDE, MATE GNOME3 etc...
I use the default (in MATE, KDE, LXDE, XFCE) i dont change notification configs.
i use boxes, asn opnebox, only for run commands, fast updates etc...
but if you want to use a notification package under openbox, i reccomend the MATE notificator, since i dont enjoy GNOME3.
