Gnome 3 in SL10 [Solved]

Postby Nilssab » Thu Sep 20, 2012 17:34

what happened to Gnome 3 in Sabayon 10?
If I run the live cd it looks as it did before, but if I install it the launcher doesn't work, and volume control looks like gnome 2..
I can really understand adding the taskbar, but Gnome 3 has some very neat stuff as well, and those who don't like Gnome 3 would probably use the mate release, so if there is work on Gnome2:ifying Gnome 3 for sabayon I don't really see the need.. (except of course desktop icons and some kind of taskbar..)

Also, when installing gnome for some reason there are 2 extra users created and shown when choosing user to log in to, is this intentional?

after install, it should look just like it did on the live version, so I have to assume you maybe hitting fall back mode or something due to video card settings. The gdm and users thing is default.

hmm, I guess it's fall back from doing it in a virtualbox, it works after updating from sabayon 9 Gnome to sabayon 10.. and I guess the packages should be the same.. I don't understand why it would work on the live cd but not after install in a virtual environment, it stays the same after an equo upgrade which adds the virtualbox guest-addons, and I do have 3d working in other virtualboxes.. :O

well well, I'll just stay with my real OS for now anyway, I was just scared my gnome setup would get messed up if I upgraded :)

you would have to check the log files to see what is causing the video issue
