kde: problem with menu editor! [Solved]

Postby sedo_5 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 17:06

Hi everyone.
I'm using Sabayon kde. I've found out that the menu editor (the tool to edit the alt+f1 menu, in order for instance to add a program link) has some problems.
I haven't usually had problems in adding a new item to the list, but I usually have problems adding a subcategory or modifying the main categories. For example I wasn't able to create a new subcategory to fill with some links, I wasn't able to sort out my subcategories after it confused everything (and I still have my "games" categories under "education")...and things like that.
Now, it seems like it doesn't effectively change the config files (or it doesn't have the right to do it...probably because it's not root); anyway after clicking on "save configuration" it seems it saves it flawlessly, but after that the menu is unchanghed (and if you reopen the menu editor again it shows you the previous unmodified version of the menu, as it never changed anything).
It's becoming kinda frustrating (ok, it's not the worst of problems, but ...) , could you please suggest me how to deal with it?
do you have any idea?

Thanks
Renzo

Does KDE Bug Report No. 290436 describe your problem?

just to update this post...
after a full re-install of sabayon, the problem haven't showed up yet; I've been able to modify my menu ever since...strange! :)
