Window positions are fixed, they have no borders and I cannot move them
I tried removing xorg.conf (had to hack mine to make my monitor behave acceptably), but the problem persists.
I believe it might have something to do with my monitor. I used to use Ubuntu, but the last release or two stopped outputting to my monitor (so much for bulletproof X) and the developers couldn't have been less interested to resolve the problem.
For the last month or two I have had errors on login like the ones above, but have been able to use gdm as normal (though I can't say I'm a big fan of the new one, but that's a different story). Since updating today, gdm is not well.
