KDE looses all panels (taskbar, launcher etc)

Postby notzippy » Mon Mar 18, 2013 18:31

Since the last KDE update (KDE 4.10.1, kernel 3.8) I have had a couple of occasions were all my panels periodically disappear. There is no KDE reported crash. All the shortcut keys still work I can change workspaces, and windows decorations are still fine. But my panels are all missing (no task bar, launcher etc), and my desktop shortcuts. Logging out and then back in and everything goes back to normal. Anyone else see this ? Is there a better way to restart the KDE then logging out ?

thanks

Hi,
I have no problem on my desktop.
However I did have many on another one with gentoo .... mainly because of dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.4-r2.
I may be lucky on sabayon OR sabayon integration team did a good job.
Actually I just have a problem but I dont remember if it is linked to KDE upgrade.
From time to time usually when I click on a link on FF session is existed and go back to login screen.
I cant reproduce it now ;-)

I'm having a similar problem since the 4.10.1 updates. When I have a reduced size (approx. 1/3 screew width) main panel, it goes invisible when I open two or more programs. My side panel is not affected because it only has launcher icons and does not change length. If I make my main panel full screen width, I do not have a problem. Also the problem resets after a logout/login.
