Ndiswrapper / USB issue (Sabayon 3.4 Loop3)

Postby ScottishDuckHunter » Tue Jul 03, 2007 18:50

I know this is an issue as it happens repeatedly.

After installing Sabayon to my HDD i then configure my wireless dongle, forcing ndiswrapper to identify the card (ndiswrapper -a). I have to do this for my particular card and it worked in 3.3.

If i restart following this, however, i receive an error that the USB port for my keyboard is unrecognised, making desktop or terminal usage impossible. The keyboard is plugged into the back of the PC and the dongle is in the front. I have just reinstalled and am hoping to solve this before i retry ndiswrapper. Thanks.

Okay motherboards most of the time share ports for usb as you can supposedly connect 128 devices to 1 usb port using some splitter type thingy.

Likely with you there is 2 usb connectors that split into a 4 port / connector on the motherboard for front connections and some at the back of the motherboard.

If you can change the keyboard to another pair of usb at the back then likely it will not clash.

Back might look like this
II no1 and II no2 ( I = 1 usb port and II = 1 pair )

See pic in link

If not like this and only 1 pair (2 port) usb at back = 1 powered port and 1 slave non powered ie: 1 can supply power to a usb hd another can not , not enough juice.

Then try to change the connector on the inside of the pc to a 2nd usb onboard connector if you have another connector.

see the 4 yellow connectors for usb on top right side next to purple/orange sata connectors.
( = 4x2 pair = 8 port/devices for front )

This caused a problem for me some time ago as well as port / devices was clashing even in windows.

Now you should be able to use ndiswrapper and get rid of the error.
