Intel Wireless ipw3945 Problem Loop 1 & 2

Postby genes » Thu May 31, 2007 22:07

On an Acer Aspire 5610 the module is recognized and setup in Knetwork but will not connect with router. The module is listed in the modules list (lsmod). but fails to connect without any error message. Every other feature in Sabayon Loop 1 & 2 work perfectly on this laptop.
Hint: The ipw3945 module works perfectly from PCLinuxOS-2007 LiveCD on the Acer Aspire 5610 laptop.

Get into terminal / console while in say kde /gnome and as root type "net-setup" and follow the instructions.

This might fix it.

It could be the module or it can the the router.

If router unplug it for 1 min. then plug in again and see if it connects.

Any idea if inside the router config if you have mac adress blocking or need a password / code to get onto your wireless network. This can also block it.

Once router is okay then try to "modprobe -r ipw3945" to unload the module and then after it completes "modprobe ipw3945" again to reload the module.

Might have to once more do "net-setup"

If all this fails then might have to use ndiswrapper and the windows .inf file for the wifi card.

Also have to check maybe it might need mad-wifi to be emerged via kuroo or terminal not sure but doubt it.

Hope this helps
