If i click connect to another wireless on the knetwork menu it says my wireless card is a "Uknown (0x14e4) Uknown (0x4311) (wlan0_rename)" and before it said broadcom Dell... I don't remember the rest. Plz help me, I'm new using gentoo system so I don't have idea of what to do.

I believe that this is a bug in udev. See if these two links help:

I did everything on the two links but it didn't work. When i shutdown or turn on computer it says: undev add to rules [2548] unknown key ADDSS (TYPE) in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
Obviously the rule is wrong. I don't know what happened but I want my wireless back. Any other idea? Tnx

then a
Code: Select all
depmod -a

I have the same problem, and i have Intel cerinto (IPW2200) and NetGear(Atheros) but the name doesn't show up right. it shows some digits and characters only. but when i type "net-setup" in a command line, everything shows up right. besides, i learned that networkmanager sux. i still use it. but i rely more on the command line since i don't trust NetworkManager. try "net-setup" and see if it shows up right, then udev is fine.

"net-setup" didn't work for me with the problem the original poster described. I had exactly the same problem and the commands given by Dark_MaGe worked perfectly. I'm extremely grateful for this community and the help offered by others.
