Setting up DNS server for the first time ever!

OK well sorry to even ask this as most of the time I can find something to follow a step by step instruction on, but this is just so hard to me! I don't understand why I can't grasp this.

Basically I have a computer with two NIC's in it and want to have more than just router control, kinda was thinking along the lines of proxy/dns/dlna/file server/mail server or is that to much? I hope someone has the knowledge and the time to help me on this.

I really have been reading up hardcore on this but not one thing makes any sense [to me] I have a static T1 line for my biz and have kinda networked the windows rigs half azzed to one another and have been using them that way for years but have now been playing around with allot of different Distro's and have found Sabayon to be my absolute favorite all the others fell short in my opinion.

so please if anyone has the time help me [learn me/teach me] thanks for reading

I don't know of any documentation for this on a sabayon install, but the Gentoo documentation should work -

Thank you very much, I hope I can follow it, I swear I am stupid when it comes to this lol.

I have read allot on it for linux in general and it reads worse than stereo instructions in another language lol, if you have set this up ever I would be so thankful for any and all help you can submit

PS is there anything on file serving in a gui/web browser form, kinda like a web page look so it doesn't look like a FTP site, even though I want to do a ftp lol, I want to have family members able to see files but some of them don't understand FTP.

As long as you have the directory browsing enabled they can view everything just like:
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/sabayonlinux

For myself, I just setup a LAMP server as I don't need a mail, dns, dlna server. For LAMP - http://aristeidis.gr/blog/2012/10/insta ... n-sabayon/ doesn't get much easier than that.
