Intel Centrino Advanced N6205 works fine

Postby anomaly65 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 6:30

am planning temporary office move without wanting to run ethernet to new desktop location. Looked around, have always had decent luck with intel wireless cards in laptops.... so, despite a slight price premium (ok nearly twice the price), I went for it.

"Intel Centrino Advanced N6205" arrived, installed and other than entering the WPA key, zero issues. card works fine. It really is a PCI-E adapter card to hold the laptop mini pci-e card along with a decent looking antennae and 1/2M cable. No complaints;-) Other than the goofball name..... includes 0.5M cables and antennae (unlike classic stubs on other cards) so itis very easy to move antennae away from the case itself.

No real "distance" testing, but it reaches across the top floor of an old house with metal lathe/plaster walls (terrible for wireless) and no noticeable lag loading maps/web pages, etc with much better signal strength than my intel wifi carded laptop (better antennae included with desktop card). Very cool. Intel as usual. And my AMD Phenom II x6 doesn't seem offended at all 8)

Use handrails on stairs. A nasty fall face first changes your point of view quickly, and mine permanently :-)
